Steer Property Group has acquired Duncan Yeardley and Sears estate agents as it expands its independent agency operation across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
The deal, completed on 1 October, is Steer’s second acquisition following its purchase of Tim Russ & Co in June 2024.
It takes the group to three agency brands, nine branches and 100 employees across the two counties.
Duncan Yeardley and Sears will retain their existing brands, teams and four offices following the acquisition from owner Nick Thring.
EXPANSION PLANS
Vince Courtney, Managing Director of Steer Property Group, says the acquisition represents the next stage in the group’s expansion.
He says: “After Ben and I acquired Tim Russ in June 2024, we were keen to bring another good business into the group, and this felt like a natural fit, built on trust and shared values.
“Ben and I are committed to keeping Duncan Yeardley and Sears exactly as they are, with the same people looking after clients in the same way.”
Courtney has known Thring since 2012 and has worked in the local property market for around 30 years.
INDEPENDENT GROUP
Ben Steer, Operations Director of Steer Property Group, says the acquisition is a significant step towards building the group across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
He says: “Nick has built a formidable business over the last 14 years, and bringing it into the group was an easy decision.
“Following our acquisition of Tim Russ & Co in 2024, this is a big step in our ambition to grow the Steer Property Group as a truly independent business across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.”
Thring says deciding to sell was a major decision after growing Duncan Yeardley and Sears over recent years.
He adds: “My priority was always finding the right buyer. I truly believe Vince and Ben are the right people to take the business forward.
“Our values are closely aligned, and I know they will look after our team and our clients as well as we have.”
