Elan Technology Group is joining the National Land Information Service ahead of a major overhaul of the way official property search data is shared across the homebuying market.
The conveyancing technology provider will become an approved NLIS Hub channel this month, giving its clients and 37 search company partners access to official conveyancing search data.
The move will also put Elan onto the new Next Gen NLIS platform when it launches in March 2027.
Next Gen NLIS is designed to provide a more streamlined exchange of authoritative property information between conveyancers, search providers, local authorities and other organisations involved in the transaction process.
PROPERTY DATA
Elan and its partners will gain access through NLIS to official search information sourced directly from local authorities across England and Wales, Thames Water, the Mining Remediation Authority and HM Land Registry.
The next-generation service will introduce the Land Data Trust Framework, designed to provide rules and permissions governing how authoritative property information is shared between participants.
It will also provide access to new data products and services and is intended to reduce search queries and speed up the process.
The development comes as the Government pushes ahead with wider reforms aimed at digitising the homebuying and selling process and improving the availability of property information earlier in a transaction.

Fiona Barron, Chief Executive of Land Data, says: “Their modern, integration-led approach to conveyancing technology aligns closely with our vision for Next Gen NLIS, creating a trusted, future-ready platform for the secure exchange of authoritative property data.
“The new platform, underpinned by the Land Data Trust Framework, will provide clear data provenance, secure information sharing, a modern user experience and faster, more streamlined processes.”
SEARCH NETWORK
Land Data says the existing NLIS network processes the largest volume of official search transactions through a single network in England and Wales.
Adele Sagar, Operations Director at Elan Technology Group, says: “Joining the NLIS Hub is an important step in that journey, enabling us to deliver a gold-standard experience for our own customers, our licensed search company partners, and their clients.
“Just as importantly, this positions us for a smooth transition to Next Gen NLIS and the Land Data Trust Framework.”
Land Data acts as the regulator of NLIS, which provides electronic access to official land and property search information.
