Martin & Co franchise owner David Rebe has acquired the agency’s Basingstoke business as he looks to build a larger multi-branch operation through further acquisitions.
Rebe (main picture), who joined the network when he acquired the Oxford and Thame businesses in March 2024, takes control of the established Basingstoke branch following the retirement of its previous franchise owner.
The acquisition gives Rebe three Martin & Co locations and forms part of a longer-term strategy combining acquisitions with organic expansion.
He says economies of scale from operating multiple branches allow the business to pool resources and improve the service offered to clients.
ACQUISITION STRATEGY
Rebe says: “From the initial acquisition, my goal has been to grow a network of branches, as I believe the economies of scale allow us to offer our clients exceptional service through the pooled resources we have access to.
“I much prefer acquiring an established, well-performing branch with an established team, and then only introducing changes if they will add value to all stakeholders in the business.”
Rebe says his immediate priority in Basingstoke will be to understand the existing operation before making changes or identifying opportunities for further growth.
The branch has an established client base and experienced team, with most staff having worked within the business for a significant period.
FURTHER GROWTH
Rebe says the management structure established across his existing businesses gives him capacity to expand the operation further.
He adds: “We believe that we have established a very strong management team that has the ability to oversee a larger team and make sure that they are delivering exceptional service across all functions of the business.
“This acquisition is another step towards establishing a material-sized business in the UK. We are not done yet.”
Toby Phillips, Group Managing Director of Martin & Co, says: “Basingstoke is an established business with strong local relationships and an experienced team, making it an excellent fit for David and his existing portfolio.”
