Dandara releases new homes after Help to Buy Wales extension

Dandara has released a new collection of homes in Carmarthenshire following the extension of the Help to Buy Wales scheme until March 2027.

The housebuilder has made three-bedroom Afan and Morlais properties available at its Golwg Gwendraeth development in Carway, close to Ffos Las Racecourse.
Prices start at £239,995 for the Afan and £286,995 for the Morlais, putting both below the £300,000 maximum purchase price for Help to Buy Wales.

The scheme is available to first-time buyers and existing homeowners purchasing eligible new-build properties and requires buyers to provide a minimum 5% deposit. The Welsh Government provides an equity loan of up to 20% of the purchase price.

SCHEME EXTENDED TO 2027

The Welsh Government announced in July that Help to Buy Wales would continue until March 2027, with the extension expected to support an additional 400 households.

Sara Taylor, Sales Director at Dandara Wales & West, says: “The extension of Help to Buy Wales is fantastic news for buyers, particularly those purchasing their first home.

“For many people, saving for a deposit can feel like the biggest hurdle to homeownership, especially with many household budgets remaining under pressure due to the cost of living crisis.

“We’re really proud to be a registered housebuilder for the extended scheme which is expected to help an additional 400 households to purchase a new home. By reducing the size of deposit required, Help to Buy Wales is making it easier for people to take that all important first step on the property ladder.”

HOMES BELOW £300,000 THRESHOLD

The Afan (main picture) is a three-storey semi-detached property with three bedrooms, including a principal bedroom and ensuite occupying the top floor.

The Morlais offers three bedrooms alongside an open-plan kitchen and dining area and a dual-aspect living room.

Dandara is also offering its four-bedroom Thaw house type at the development from £269,995, meaning it also falls within the scheme’s current price ceiling.

Golwg Gwendraeth is located near Coed Ffos Las woodland, with Llanelli approximately 15 minutes away by road.
