Boyer names Grant Leggett as MD ahead of leadership change

Planning consultancy Boyer has appointed Grant Leggett as Managing Director as it prepares for the retirement of Executive Chair Andrew Williams at the end of the year.

Leggett (mai picture, inset), previously Executive Director, takes on the expanded role with immediate effect after already being closely involved in the day-to-day leadership of the LRG-owned consultancy.
Karen Charles will remain Executive Director, while Williams will continue as Executive Chair until his retirement at the end of 2026.

The changes are designed to provide continuity for clients and staff as Boyer moves to its next generation of leadership.

15 YEARS AT BOYER

Leggett joined Boyer in 2011 and has played a central role in expanding its London office from its original two founding members to a team of more than 14.

His work has ranged from bespoke developments to major regeneration schemes across London and the South East.

He became Executive Director in January 2023, taking on wider responsibilities for the leadership and management of the consultancy alongside his client work.

Leggett says: “Planning is fundamentally about people – both the communities affected by development and the teams responsible for delivering it.

“Boyer has changed considerably since I joined in 2011, but the principle of providing practical, trusted planning advice has remained constant. Karen and I have already been working closely on the day-to-day running of the business and my new role gives us a strong platform from which to continue its development.”

SUCCESSION

Williams has spent more than 20 years with Boyer and says Leggett’s existing involvement in running the consultancy should ensure continuity.

He adds: “Grant knows Boyer, our clients and our people exceptionally well and has already played an important part in leading the business.

“He has been closely involved in the day-to-day running of Boyer for some time and I am confident that he will provide strong leadership as the business moves into its next chapter.”
