Estate and letting agents are being offered guidance on how recent changes to anti-money laundering rules should be applied within property businesses.
AML specialist FCS Compliance is holding a free webinar following updates to the Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) and HMRC guidance affecting the property sector.
The session comes amid questions from property professionals about how the changes translate into day-to-day compliance procedures.
FCS Compliance says its previous webinar on the regulatory changes generated a significant number of follow-up queries, prompting a second event focused primarily on questions from agents and other property professionals.
PRACTICAL COMPLIANCE
Stephen Williamson (main picture, inset right), Lead AML Consultant at FCS Compliance, and Jen Siwicki (main picture, inset left), Senior AML Consultant at FCS Compliance, will host the hour-long Ask the Experts: Money Laundering Regulation Changes & HMRC Guidancewebinar.
Williamson says: “The changes to the Money Laundering Regulations, together with HMRC’s updated guidance, represent one of the most significant periods of change to the AML framework affecting the property sector in recent years.
“Our last webinar generated a considerable number of follow-up questions from property professionals, particularly around how the changes should be applied in practice.”
AGENT QUESTIONS
Rather than following a conventional presentation format, the webinar will be led by questions submitted by attendees, with the specialists focusing on how firms can implement the regulations in practice.
Williamson adds: “This webinar is an opportunity for people to put those questions directly to us.
“We want to help translate the Regulations and HMRC guidance into practical, workable steps for property businesses, in what can often feel like a complex and nuanced area of compliance.”
The free webinar takes place from 1pm on Wednesday 23 September.
