Auctioneer and familiar Bargain Hunt expert Colin Young is celebrating 40 years in the profession.
Young (main picture) joined Lincolnshire auction firm Lyall & Co as an assistant manager at the age of 18 on 8 September 1986 and is now Managing Director of the business, which has since become Golding Young & Mawer.
During his four decades in auctioneering he has served as President of NAVA Propertymark and was named ISVA Young Auctioneer of the Year.
He has also become a familiar face to television audiences, appearing as an antiques and auction expert on BBC’s Bargain Hunt since 2002.
FOUR DECADES
Young also works as a private auctioneer and regularly conducts charity auctions alongside his television and professional commitments.
He says: “I am absolutely thrilled to be celebrating my 40th year in the auctioneering profession and to have seen so many changes.
“From my very first day, it has been a vocation that has captivated me. No two days have ever been the same, and I’m extremely proud to still be involved all these decades later.
“The pace, the people, the achievements and the challenges all fused together are still something I have a real passion for, and I look forward to continuing my involvement over the coming years too.”
