Propertymark launches 971-mile charity cycle challenge

Propertymark has launched a sector-wide fundraising initiative to support colleagues facing hardship, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

The organisation is aiming to cycle a collective 971 miles on static bikes during the week-long campaign, reflecting the distance between its most northerly and southerly members.
The challenge will see staff contribute miles throughout the week, with four bikes set up across the office to encourage participation and maximise fundraising efforts.

All proceeds will go to the Propertymark Trust, which provides financial and practical support to property professionals and their families during periods of hardship.

EMOTIONAL AND FINANCIAL PRESSURE

The initiative is also being driven by the experience of Kate Bargery (main picture), an Executive Assistant at Propertymark, whose story underlines the importance of the Trust’s work. After receiving multiple cancer diagnoses, she faced both emotional and financial pressures during treatment and time away from work.

Support from the Propertymark Trust helped ease those pressures, enabling her to focus on recovery, with her experience now forming a central part of the campaign’s message to the wider sector.

Propertymark said the Trust has supported many individuals and families across the profession in recent years, and is urging agents to engage with the campaign to help ensure that support remains available.

Nathan Emerson, Chief Executive Officer of Propertymark, says: “As we come together during Mental Health Awareness Week, this cycling challenge is a great reflection of the support and unity that exists across Propertymark and the wider property sector.

“Kate’s experience is a powerful reminder of why the Propertymark Trust is so important, and I want to acknowledge her courage in sharing such a personal journey.

“By getting behind this initiative and working towards the 971-mile target, we can help ensure that vital support continues to be there for colleagues and their families when they need it most.”

Propertymark is encouraging industry professionals to follow the campaign, share updates and contribute where possible as it looks to widen participation and boost fundraising.
