Jackson-Stops takes Tottering-by-Gently to new heights

Jackson-Stops has unveiled a new animated marketing campaign featuring the much-loved Tottering-by-Gently characters Dicky and Daffy Tottering, as the national estate agency continues to strengthen its brand presence across both town and country markets.

Created by celebrated British cartoonist Annie Tempest, the latest animation sees Dicky piloting a helicopter through the London skyline while Daffy drifts overhead in a hot air balloon accompanied by her dogs, including puppy Twiglet. The pair exchange a wave as they pass above the capital, capturing the blend of urban and rural living that Jackson-Stops says increasingly reflects modern buyer aspirations.
The film is the third collaboration between Jackson-Stops and Tempest since the partnership began in 2021 and will form the centrepiece of the agency’s digital advertising campaign across mainstream media and social channels throughout the year.

Founded in 1910, Jackson-Stops operates more than 40 offices nationwide, including four in London, and says the campaign reflects the growing number of buyers seeking to balance city careers with access to countryside living.

ENORMOUS FUN

Annie Tempest, creator of the long-running Tottering-by-Gently cartoon strip in Country Life magazine, says: “Creating a new animation for Jackson-Stops featuring Dicky and Daffy has been enormous fun.

“This time, Dicky is at the controls, soaring over the City of London, while Daffy drifts peacefully after a near miss with a cricket ball.

“I particularly love the contrast, and that charming moment when they catch sight of each other and wave as they glide past.”

The animation was produced by Eliot Wykes of production company Part Human, whose previous work includes campaigns for brands such as Coca-Cola, Mercedes and Tesco.

Nick Leeming, Chairman of Jackson-Stops, says: “Annie has translated Dicky and Daffy beautifully into animation once again, and this time they’ve taken to the skies.

“It’s warm, witty and unmistakably ‘Tottering’, and reflects our ambition to keep raising the bar with imaginative, distinctive campaigns.

“It also speaks directly to where Jackson-Stops excels, whether in town or country, we pride ourselves on being the national estate agents that locals recommend.”
