The Guild of Property Professionals is hosting an industry-wide webinar to help estate agents understand the Government’s proposed home buying and selling reforms as speculation continues over the future of the transaction process.
The online event, taking place on 23 July, will examine the reforms currently under consideration, including widespread industry speculation that Home Information Packs (HIPs) or similar upfront information requirements could form part of future legislation.
Hosted by Paul Offley (main picture, inset), Compliance Officer at The Guild of Property Professionals, the session will focus on separating confirmed proposals from industry speculation while helping agents understand how any changes could affect their businesses and clients.
The Government has yet to confirm the detail of its reforms, but proposals aimed at reducing delays and fall-throughs have prompted growing debate across the property sector, with estate agents keen to understand what any overhaul could mean for the home buying and selling process.
TRANSACTION IMPACT
Offley says: “Whilst nothing has been confirmed, it’s understandable that many agents are already asking what these proposals could mean for their businesses.
“Having supported Guild Members through many legislative and regulatory changes over the years, it’s important to separate speculation from what’s actually being proposed. Understanding the detail early helps businesses prepare without reacting unnecessarily.
“That’s why I’ll be hosting a webinar next Thursday, where I’ll look at the proposals as they stand today, discuss their potential impact on agents, and answer questions live.”
The webinar is open to both Guild members and non-members and will cover the latest proposals, the potential impact on the transaction process and practical considerations for estate agency businesses.
With consultation on home buying reform expected to continue, the session reflects growing demand across the industry for greater clarity as agents prepare for what could become one of the biggest changes to the sales process since the introduction—and subsequent abolition—of Home Information Packs.
