Dandara is launching 56 new homes in South Chailey, East Sussex, including affordable rent and shared ownership properties.
The Cygnets development will provide a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes in the village, around 10 minutes from Lewes.
Homes will be offered across private sale, affordable rent and shared ownership tenures, with the housebuilder pointing to the need for more affordable housing identified by Lewes District Council.
A selection of three and four-bedroom private homes is being released for sale from plan, with prices starting at £475,000.
AFFORDABLE HOMES
Dandara says the tenure mix is intended to provide options for first-time buyers and families in an area where affordability can make homeownership difficult for local residents.
Alexander Dowling, Sales Director for Dandara South East, says: “The Lewes District Council five-year housing plan has outlined a need for affordable housing to cater for young professionals and first-time buyers.
“The strategy also suggested an increase in shared ownership options, responding to the fact that buying in South Chailey is too expensive for many of the locals.
“With a mix of private sale, affordable rent and shared ownership homes, The Cygnets will help meet local housing needs while creating a desirable place to live for a wide range of buyers.”

Many of the homes will include air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points.
Dowling adds: “Purchasing from plan gives buyers the opportunity to secure their chosen home early and follow its progress throughout construction, which can be a really exciting part of the process.”
The development is expected to welcome its first residents this winter.
