Colony Architects has been named Architectural Practice of the Year at the Thames Valley Property Awards.
The Theale-based practice was recognised for its work across heritage, residential and community-focused regeneration projects.
Founded by Directors Ed Mather and Stu Hall, Colony Architects has grown to a team of 15 and operates across heritage, residential, developer-led and commercial property.
The business delivers projects through all RIBA stages, combining specialist design expertise with commercial knowledge and a practical understanding of construction.
HERITAGE AND REGENERATION
Projects completed during the award’s qualifying period included the rescue and stabilisation of listed buildings on the Heritage at Risk Register and contemporary interventions at listed homes.
The practice also helped transform a long-vacant youth centre in Reading into new homes and community space while protecting a culturally significant 40-metre mural.
Colony Architects has delivered 12 affordable housing sites over the past three years, including one development built to the international Passivhaus standard.
Judges highlighted the practice’s collaboration with conservation officers, local authorities and community groups.
They also recognised its work to support education and skills development through talks, work experience placements and pro bono assistance for grassroots organisations.
