A new training course on the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 sold out within 30 minutes of launch, highlighting the scramble among agents to prepare for incoming reforms.
The course was unveiled during Propertymark’s Renters’ Rights Act – Final Preparations webinar on 13 April, which attracted more than 2,000 registrations.
Titled Section 8 and 13: Rents, Rights and Repossession, the course is designed to help agents navigate key legal changes, including tenancy security, rent reviews and repossession processes.
Only one initial date was released, with places taken within half an hour amid strong demand from across the sector.
PRACTICAL STEPS
During the webinar, Propertymark outlined practical steps for agents ahead of implementation, including issuing the new Information Sheet, transitioning to assured periodic tenancies and understanding updated possession grounds.
Agents were also advised to review pipeline management and referencing processes, including approaches to rent in advance and the use of guarantors.
The course will focus on the correct use of Section 8 and Section 13 notices under the Housing Act 1988, as amended, giving agents a practical framework for compliance.
Training will be delivered by Penny Schofield, Propertymark course trainer, a solicitor advocate and former lettings agency owner with more than 16 years’ experience delivering industry training.
Following the sell-out, additional dates have been scheduled throughout 2026 to meet demand.
FULL COMPLIANCE
Nathan Emerson (main picture, inset), Chief Executive Officer of Propertymark, says: “This course has been developed to equip lettings agents and property professionals with the practical knowledge and confidence required to operate in full compliance with the new legal framework.
“It ensures agents can correctly apply the legislation in practice, meet their regulatory obligations, and continue delivering a professional, compliant service throughout every stage of the tenancy process.”
Propertymark said further places are expected to fill quickly as the sector prepares for the introduction of the new regime.
