The former London home of singer-songwriter Lynsey de Paul has been put up for sale for the first time in 20 years with a £4.85m price tag.
The detached Victorian villa on Fairfax Road, South Hampstead, extends to 3,807 sq ft and provides four bedrooms, several reception spaces and a south-west-facing landscaped garden.
De Paul bought the property in 1995 and reportedly used it both as a songwriting retreat and to entertain figures from the music and television industries.
Built in 1851-52, the double-fronted Italianate house has since undergone an extensive refurbishment led by interior designer Shalini Misra.
CELEBRITY HISTORY
De Paul enjoyed a string of hits during the 1970s, including Sugar Me, Won’t Somebody Dance with Me and No Honestly. She also represented the UK at the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing second with Rock Bottom.
Her circle of friends and associates reportedly included Esther Rantzen, Suzi Quatro, Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott, Roy Wood, Henry Kelly and Spike Milligan who affectionately nicknamed her “Looney de Small”.
De Paul sold the house in 2001 after moving to Mill Hill. It was subsequently owned by broadcaster Jonathan Coleman before being acquired by the current vendors in 2006.

Arranged over four floors, the property includes an open-plan kitchen, dining and family room opening onto the garden, two formal reception rooms, a study and four en-suite bedrooms.
