The Fine & Country Foundation has launched its latest global fundraising initiative, challenging participants to collectively travel the equivalent distance around the world in just 80 days to raise money for charities tackling homelessness and poverty.
The Around the World in 80 Days Challenge officially began on Wednesday this week and follows the success of a previous campaign held in 2022.
The initiative will bring together the international Fine & Country network, alongside friends, family members and local communities, with participants aiming to collectively cover 40,070 kilometres through walking, running, cycling and swimming.
Progress throughout the challenge will be tracked through a dedicated fitness app featuring a live leaderboard, adding a competitive element to the fundraising campaign.
COMBAT HOMELESSNESS AND POVERTY
Money raised will support The Fine & Country Foundation’s ongoing work helping charities combat homelessness and poverty through its established Spring and Autumn grant programmes. Grants of up to £3,000 are distributed to organisations providing frontline support to vulnerable people.
The challenge forms part of Fine & Country’s wider culture of charitable fundraising, with members of the network regularly taking part in events ranging from marathons and endurance challenges to gala fundraising events.
A dedicated JustGiving page has also been launched to support participants and encourage wider public involvement.
The Foundation said the timing of the challenge was designed to encourage people to make the most of the warmer months while supporting a global cause and engaging with their local communities.
SHARED PURPOSE
Emile Despois (main picture), Trustee of The Fine & Country Foundation, says: “The Around the World in 80 Days Challenge is a fantastic way to bring our entire network together in support of a cause that truly matters.
“We’ve seen incredible dedication from our network over the years, and this initiative builds on that spirit, combining teamwork, friendly competition, and a shared purpose.
“Every step taken and every pound raised helps us extend The Foundation’s impact and provide critical support to charities making a real difference in people’s lives.”
The Fine & Country Foundation says the more funds raised through the challenge, the more charities it will be able to support through its grant programmes.
The organisation continues to fund projects both in the UK and internationally aimed at addressing homelessness, poverty and wider social hardship.
