eXp UK surpasses 1,000 agents on self-employed model

eXp UK has passed the 1,000-agent milestone, cementing its position as the country’s largest platform for self-employed estate agents and marking another significant step in the rapid growth of the sector.

The company, which launched in the UK in 2019, reached the landmark just one year after becoming the nation’s leading estate agency brand for new instructions, according to industry data from TwentyEA.
In June 2025, eXp UK topped the league table for new instructions with 731 agents operating on its platform. Twelve months later, membership has increased by more than a third, highlighting what the company says is growing demand for greater flexibility, autonomy and earning potential among estate agents.

The pace of growth has accelerated markedly. Having reached 700 agents in April 2025, eXp surpassed 800 in September, 900 in January this year and has now broken through the 1,000-agent barrier just 131 days later.

HALF THE MARKET

The milestone also shows the growing influence of the self-employed agency sector. TwentyEA estimates there are approximately 2,000 self-employed estate agents operating across the UK, meaning eXp now accounts for around half of the market.

The company’s growth has been supported by a series of strategic initiatives over the last year, including the expansion of its brokerage model, buyer representation programme, commercial division and luxury property offering.

NOT SLOWING DOWN

Adam Day (main picture, inset), Head of eXp UK and Europe, says: “To now surpass 1,000 agents exactly one year after becoming the UK’s leading estate agency brand is an incredibly proud moment and one that really highlights the pace at which the business continues to grow given that we now account for 50% market share of self-employed agents within the UK property market.

“What’s particularly exciting is that the rate of growth is accelerating rather than slowing down. That tells you everything you need to know about the appetite for change within the industry and the strength of the model we’ve built.”

He adds that agents increasingly want “greater flexibility, better economics and more ownership over their future”, which he believes will continue to drive growth in the self-employed estate agency sector.
