Yopa kicks off World Cup campaign to help local clubs raise funds

As England prepares to face DR Congo in the World Cup knockout stages, Yopa is encouraging football fans to harness the excitement of the tournament to help raise vital funds for grassroots organisations in their local communities.

Through its Fund the Future initiative, Yopa is launching a special World Cup campaign designed to help grassroots organisations generate funding at a time when many continue to face increasing financial pressures and operational challenges.
Schools, clubs, charities, and community organisations can sign up to the campaign and encourage their supporters to host a Yopa sponsorship board outside their home. For every board hosted and displayed, Yopa donates £12 directly to the organisation.

The initiative has already proven successful, with 36 organisations taking part to date, resulting in nearly 1,400 sponsorship boards being installed and over £17,000 raised for local communities.

While fundraising totals vary, most organisations secure between 20 and 90 boards, equating to between £240 and £1,080 in funding. Particularly successful campaigns can see 300 boards displayed, generating as much as £3,600 for a single organisation.

The money raised can make a genuine difference to organisations operating on tight budgets, for example, £200 could purchase around 10 quality footballs for junior teams and £500 could provide around 20-25 pairs of junior football boots, helping children who may otherwise struggle to access the game.

Verona Frankish, chief executive of Yopa, says: “Major sporting events like the World Cup have an incredible ability to bring nations and communities together, and we wanted to harness that enthusiasm to create a lasting local legacy.

“Grassroots organisations are the backbone of communities across the UK, but many continue to face significant financial pressures. Through Fund the Future, we’re giving local people a simple way to support the organisations that matter most to them, simply by displaying a sponsorship board outside their home.

“Every board helps generate funding that can be invested back into local facilities, equipment, coaching, and opportunities for young people. Whether it’s buying new football boots, replacing worn-out kit, or helping keep participation affordable, these small contributions quickly add up to make a meaningful difference.”
