Construction has started on 38 new affordable homes in Horndean, Hampshire, through a partnership between housing association VIVID and developer Imperial Homes.
The development, off Chalk Hill Road, will provide a mix of one to five-bedroom properties, with all 38 homes being delivered for either social rent or shared ownership.
The scheme will also include electric vehicle charging points, air source heat pumps and dedicated outdoor space for residents and the wider community.
Completion of the development is scheduled for autumn 2028.
AFFORDABLE SUPPLY
Sunita Aujla, Land and New Business Director at VIVID, says: “It’s always great to see construction begin and watch plans for new homes start to come to life.
“These 38 affordable homes will give more people the chance to put down roots in Horndean and be part of a local community.
“Good homes make a real difference to people’s lives, and this development is part of our wider work to invest in new and existing homes and create more affordable places to live across the south of England.”
DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP
The Horndean project continues an existing partnership between VIVID and Imperial Homes on the South Coast.
Ben Olds, Director at Imperial Homes, says: “We are delighted to be working with VIVID again. We have a longstanding and robust relationship, and this project further strengthens our partnership and portfolio on the South Coast.
“The site at Chalk Hill will deliver 38 affordable properties, providing much-needed social housing within the borough.
“Like VIVID, we are eager to see the project come to life and offer the homes to the market and local people.”
