Proptech firm founders awarded honorary degrees

The co-founders of iamproperty Ben Ridgway and Jamie Cooke have been awarded honorary degrees from Northumbria University in Newcastle, where the pair met whilst studying.

Soon after graduating, the pair launched iamproperty together, with support from the university.
They are both receiving the Honorary Doctor of Civil Law in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the property and technology sectors, and their pioneering entrepreneurial spirit.

Ridgway graduated with a degree in Real Estate Management and Jamie in Estate Management.

REGIONAL GROWTH

They are also being recognised for their commitment to the economic and social growth of the North East.

The business is still headquartered in Newcastle today, and what started out as a team of two has grown to more than 750 people across the UK, supporting over 7,000 Estate Agency branches to succeed.

Cooke says: “Congratulations to the other 12 Honorary Graduates. We’re grateful to Northumbria for this recognition and the support to launch the business in 2009.

“Back then we were just two mates with a shared goal to make buying and selling homes faster, more secure and more transparent. There’s been lot of brilliant people and partners along the way who trusted our vision, and who are still on the journey with us as we continue to improve the homebuying process.”
