The Property Ombudsman (TPO) has appointed Jan Hÿtch and Bill Cooper as Industry Non-Executive Directors.
The appointments add experience across agency, consumer redress, professional standards, governance and business leadership to TPO’s Board.
Hÿtch (main picture, inset left) has more than 35 years’ experience in residential property and is currently Member Services Manager at Propertymark.
She has been a member of TPO’s Industry Forum since 2018 and previously served as a Director of Propertymark and member of the RICS UK Residential Board.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Hÿtch has also worked as an External Adjudicator for the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and spent 30 years as a Partner at Arnolds Keys LLP, where her work included complaints and dispute resolution.
Cooper (main picture, inset right) also brings more than 35 years’ experience and was formerly an equity partner at Deloitte and KPMG, advising management boards and senior leadership teams on strategy, governance and organisational transformation.
More recently, he owned and ran the Martin & Co residential lettings and property management business in Oxford.
During eight years as a franchisee, the business expanded organically and through the acquisition and integration of three lettings agencies.
Cooper is also a landlord, investor and adviser and a member of Propertymark.

Claire Bassett, Chair of The Property Ombudsman Board, says: “Both Jan and Bill bring a wealth of experience from across the property sector, alongside a strong understanding of governance, professional standards and the importance of effective consumer redress.
“Their knowledge and insight will be a real asset to TPO as we continue to strengthen our work for consumers and property businesses across the UK.
“I look forward to working with them both.”
