Property industry raises £70,000 in Lake District Ultra Challenge honouring late estate agency leader

Seventy professionals from across the UK property sector have raised an extraordinary £70,000 for Breast Cancer Now after completing the Lake District Ultra Challenge in memory of Women in Estate Agency (WiEA) board member Sarah Edmundson.

The fundraising effort, which took place on Saturday 7th June 2025, saw participants take on either a demanding 29km hike or a scenic 10km loop through one of England’s most iconic and challenging landscapes.
Organised by Action Challenge, the event combined physical endurance with a deeply personal cause, marking a poignant tribute to Edmundson, a much-loved figure in the industry who passed away in late 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Starting in Kendal, participants trekked across rugged fells, waded through water, and faced unpredictable weather as they climbed toward Ambleside. Their reward: panoramic views, well-earned medals, and a celebratory gathering at Kendal Rugby Club to reflect on their shared achievement and remember Edmundson’s contribution to the industry.

Lucy Noonan, founder of Atomic Consultancy, WiEA board member, and the driving force behind the event, says: “What an absolutely phenomenal weekend. Seeing 70 amazing people come together, pushing their limits, supporting one another, and doing it all with such spirit for Sarah and Breast Cancer Now, was truly humbling.

“The Lake District definitely tested us, but the energy, the laughs, and the sheer determination from everyone was incredible.

“This was more than just a walk; it was a powerful celebration of community, resilience, and Sarah’s inspiring legacy. We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who donated – £70,000 is beyond our wildest dreams!”

Funds raised will support Breast Cancer Now’s pioneering research and vital support services.

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK, affecting around 55,000 women and 400 men each year. Without action, projections suggest that by 2040 one woman in the UK will be diagnosed with the disease every eight minutes.
