Guild launches platform to help agents avoid costly fines

The Guild of Property Professionals has launched a new compliance management platform designed to help estate and letting agents stay on top of regulatory obligations and avoid potentially significant financial penalties.

Called Compliance Guardian, the system provides agents with a centralised hub to manage compliance requirements, monitor key deadlines, securely store documentation and receive automated reminders when action is required.
The launch comes as regulatory demands continue to increase across the property sector, placing greater pressure on agencies to maintain accurate records and ensure essential registrations and certifications remain up to date.

Compliance Guardian enables Guild members to track key requirements including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Supervision, Professional Indemnity Insurance, Client Money Protection and ICO Registration.

REDUCE RISK

The Guild says the platform has been developed to reduce the risk of missed deadlines, which can result in substantial financial penalties and regulatory scrutiny.

Paul Offley (main picture, inset), Compliance Officer at The Guild of Property Professionals, says: “Many agents underestimate the financial consequences of missing compliance deadlines. Something as simple as overlooking an AML Supervision renewal can have serious implications.

“HMRC calculates penalties based on business turnover during the period an agent was unsupervised, and I have personally seen fines reach as much as £55,000.”

He added: “Compliance requirements are becoming increasingly complex, and agents are already managing multiple responsibilities across their businesses.

“Compliance Guardian has been designed to simplify the process by providing clear visibility of upcoming deadlines, secure document storage and timely reminders. It helps ensure that critical compliance requirements are never overlooked.”

EASIER COMPLIANCE

The Guild says the platform forms part of its wider commitment to supporting members in an increasingly regulated operating environment.

Offley adds: “Our goal is simple: to make compliance management easier, more visible and less time-consuming.

“By helping Members stay organised and informed, we can reduce risk and minimise the potential for costly regulatory fines.”

The platform is available exclusively to Guild members and is intended to provide a proactive approach to compliance management while allowing agents to focus on serving clients and growing their businesses.
