Winkworth franchisees extend area of operation in Wiltshire and acquire Salisbury office

Winkworth franchisees Lisa and Simon Jacobs have created a new Winkworth office after acquiring the Salisbury franchise.

The duo took over the franchise from the renowned Mathew Hallett who had been at Winkworth for nearly 10 years.

Matthew HallettMatthew HallettHallett was known for having a flair for country houses as well as a lifelong love affair with Georgian architecture. He has now retired from Winkworth and is currently on a sabbatical.

The Salisbury office is being managed by Jack Chitty, Simon and Lisa’s nephew. The team will also cover the Devizes area from Salisbury and from their existing office in Marlborough, where they have been franchisees for over 15 years.

Chitty moved to Winkworth Salisbury from Winkworth Devizes where he had been based for a year after starting his career with Winkworth over 10 years ago in Islington.

He will  take over more and more of the day to day running of the business, keeping it in the family. Lisa will continue to run the lettings and management side of the business.

The office has moved to new premises in Castle Street, close to the Market Square and centre of the medieval cathedral city.

Simon Jacobs says:” We are thrilled to have a presence in the wonderful city of Salisbury. Jack works extremely hard for his clients, going above and beyond to get the results they want from their property sale.

“Having grown up and gone to school in Salisbury, he knows the area extremely well and we are very much looking forward to building a good client base and giving them the excellent service that Winkworth is known for.”

Salisbury has a mix of housing stock, with handsome period properties, plus post-war and newer build homes, ranging from £650,000 to around £2 million.

Jack Chitty, WinkworthJack Chitty, WinkworthChitty adds: “Salisbury is an area which attracts a lot of people who have roots here – and they return when they have a family and are looking for more space.

“We see London leavers and local buyers and downsizers. For those who are working in London several days a week, the fast trains take just over one hour and 20 minutes and the drive takes around 90 minutes.”

Dominic Agace, Winkworth Chief Executive, says: “We are delighted to see Simon and Lisa establish a larger office in Wiltshire. They are a great example of how successful franchisees can flourish and build their business within the franchise network. It is also exciting to see a bright new talent like Jack returning to Salisbury where he grew up and using his expert local knowledge to progress to the next stage in his career with Winkworth.”
