Whitegates expands with acquisition of Martin & Co Pontefract

Whitegates has strengthened its Yorkshire footprint with the acquisition of Martin & Co Pontefrac, in a move that consolidates its position as one of the region’s fastest-growing estate agency brands.

The deal marks Whitegates’ 10th acquisition under the leadership of Proprietor and Managing Director Chan Khangura, bringing the group’s total managed portfolio to more than 1,600 properties across its network.
As part of the deal, the Martin & Co Pontefract office will close, with all lettings, sales, auctions and property management operations transferring to Whitegates Pontefract, based at 21 Beastfair.

Existing clients will now be served by the Whitegates team led by Co-Director Liam Reilly.

Khangura described the acquisition as “a fantastic milestone” for the business and a testament to his team’s cohesion and ambition.

He told Property Soup: “This is my 10th acquisition, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and unity of our staff,” he said. “We’re more than a company — we’re a family unit dedicated to serving our local community.”

He also praised The Property Franchise Group, parent company to both brands, for helping to broker the deal, particularly Rob Smith, who was instrumental in finalising the agreement.

COMMUNITY DRIVEN

Whitegates says the move reflects its ongoing commitment to growth and client service across the region, promising a “smooth transition and continuity of care” for all landlords, tenants, buyers and vendors.

With the acquisition now complete, Whitegates Pontefract will operate as the sole local office, continuing to build on the firm’s reputation for innovation and community-driven service.
