Weston Homes has strengthened its senior leadership team with three key appointments across its land, partnerships and design functions as it accelerates its expansion into new development models.
Steve Hatton (main picture), group development director, has joined the Weston Homes Group Board, while Abbie Simpson has been promoted to land and partnerships director and Daniel Murray to planning and design director.
The moves come as Weston Homes enters a new phase of growth following the launch of Weston Partnerships, a dedicated division focused on working with both public and private sector partners across build-to-rent, affordable housing, student accommodation, co-living and later-living schemes.
Led by Hatton, the division already has a pipeline of more than 1,000 homes across sites in Bracknell, Barking and Cambridge.
MAJOR MILESTONE
Hatton joined Weston Homes in 2002 as a management trainee and has risen through the business to become one of its most senior development figures.
He has been closely involved in some of the company’s largest schemes, including the £350m Abbey Quay development in Barking and the £500m Lorimer Village scheme in Goodmayes.
Hatton says: “Weston Homes has been a huge part of my life and career, so joining the Group Board is a really special milestone. We have a number of landmark developments in progress that are truly building new communities and I look forward to working with our senior team as we continue to grow and evolve.”
ACQUISITION STRATEGY

Simpson (picture above, right) joined Weston Homes in 2015 as a trainee land manager and has progressed through a series of senior roles. She is now responsible for leading the group’s land acquisition and partnerships strategy, supporting the future development pipeline.
Simpson says: “Having grown my career with Weston Homes over the past decade, it’s an honour to step into this new role. This is an exciting time for the business, and I’m looking forward to working closely with our partners to identify new opportunities and help deliver the next generation of high-quality developments that Weston Homes is known for.”
FUTURE DIRECTION
Murray (pictured above, left), who joined the business in 2018, will lead the planning and design team, shaping the architectural direction of future schemes.
Murray says: “Design is at the heart of everything we do at Weston Homes. I’m excited to build on that strong foundation and lead our talented team as we continue to create thoughtfully designed homes and communities that people are proud to live in.”

Bob Weston, Chairman and Managing Director, adds: “We always strive to support our team’s personal and professional development and it is a source of considerable personal pride to see colleagues’ achievements and qualifications alongside their excellent work within the Group.
“These promotions reflect the strength of our people and come at a pivotal moment for the business, as landmark developments such as Abbey Quay and the growth of Weston Partnerships pave the way for the future.”
