Property inspection app Survey Shack has been named among just six startups selected for the 21st cohort of the Geovation Accelerator Programme (GAP).
The GAP is an initiative from Ordnance Survey (OS) and HM Land Registry (HMLR) designed to support innovators using land, property and location data to solve real-world problems.
Launched in October 2024, the fast-growing PropTech startup has been chosen as one of three companies in Geovation’s dedicated property technology track, giving it access to six months of tailored business support covering customers, product development, business models, IP, team building and investment readiness.
The accelerator has a strong track record of helping early-stage companies scale rapidly and bring transformative property technologies to market.
REDUCE FALL-THROUGHS
Survey Shack’s app enables buyers, sellers and agents to carry out guided property inspections using visual cues and educational prompts created by surveying professionals. The process generates structured condition reports that help users understand a property’s state much earlier in the sale journey — reducing uncertainty and the risk of last-minute fall-throughs.
The company’s recently launched Genie service, available through its Survey Shack Premium package for under £100, connects users with a professional surveyor after their self-inspection for additional insight and clarification.
By bridging the gap between consumer-led and professional surveys, Survey Shack aims to empower more informed and confident decisions on both sides of a transaction.
TRANSFORMING INSPECTIONS
The startup’s inclusion in the latest Geovation cohort comes as government initiatives seek to modernise the homebuying process and improve transparency across the property market.
Survey Shack’s data-driven inspection model directly supports those goals by addressing one of the most common causes of delay – late-stage surprises revealed during surveys.
FRESH THINKING
Lynne Nicholson, Deputy Director for Data at HMLR, says: “The start-ups selected for the PropTech track are tackling long-standing challenges in property with compassion, fresh thinking and practical innovation.
“From empowering leaseholders to improving visibility of property condition, these teams are helping to instil greater confidence in the property market.
“Their work supports HM Land Registry’s mission to enhance transparency and efficiency – and we’re proud to accelerate their journey as they bring data-driven solutions to life.”
DATA-DRIVEN SMART TECH
Brett Ray Survey Shack’s Founding Partner and Chief Executive (main picture alongside fellow Co-founder Evelina Ray), added: “We are delighted that Survey Shack has been included in the prestigious Geovation Accelerator Programme.
“With a mission to transform the property inspection process through expert-led, data-driven insights and smart technology, we are excited to be part of the future of PropTech and the improvement of the homebuying and selling process in the UK.”
