Spain Sotheby’s International Realty names Álvaro González de la-Hoz Regional Director in Madrid

Spain Sotheby’s International Realty has appointed Álvaro González de la-Hoz (main picture) as its new Regional Director in Madrid as the firm looks to strengthen its position in one of Europe’s most competitive luxury real estate markets.

With more than two decades of experience in the high-end sector, González de la-Hoz began his career in commercial management before leading the expansion of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Spain.
His track record includes opening new markets across the country, building investment links with Latin America, and overseeing specialist teams dedicated to exclusive properties.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the firm, which in the past eight months has opened a new headquarters on Lagasca Street in the Salamanca District, along with a second office in La Moraleja. These hubs cement its footprint in two of Madrid’s most prestigious enclaves.

Sven Odia, Executive Chairman of Spain Sotheby’s International Realty, says: “Madrid is a strong, international, and increasingly sophisticated market. Álvaro’s appointment reflects our ambition to continue delivering the best service in a highly competitive environment.

“His international profile, strategic mindset, and deep understanding of the luxury real estate sector – along with his excellent managerial skills, strong reputation, and proven expertise working with the best agents – are key to this new phase.”

KEY CAPITAL

González de la-Hoz adds: “Madrid has become a key European capital for luxury residential real estate. At Spain Sotheby’s International Realty, we aim to lead this new cycle.

“I am truly excited to take on this challenge in a company with a unique legacy and global reach. We are going to continue building a distinctive value proposition that combines excellence, closeness, and an international outlook.”

SUSTAINED DEMAND

The capital’s prime residential market remains robust, with sustained demand in Recoletos, Castellana, Justicia, and Chamberí, alongside growing activity in El Viso, Valdemarín, and La Finca.

Buyers are increasingly younger, globally connected, and focused on properties that blend design, privacy, and investment value.

Under the ownership of Vivium and with Odia’s leadership, Spain Sotheby’s International Realty is set to expand further, backed by its off-market capabilities, global reach, and highly tailored client service.
