Resident engagement platform Spaciable has rolled out a new multi-language feature enabling housing providers to communicate with residents in their native language and improve inclusivity across developments.
The software, part of Classic Folios, is already in use across more than 1,000 UK developments, including projects by Battersea Power Station Development Company, Cala, Far East Consortium and Westminster City Council.
The new tool allows residents to set their preferred language in-app, with messages and notifications from landlords, developers or neighbours automatically translated.
Languages available at launch include Polish, Romanian, Punjabi, Gujarati, Arabic, Turkish, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Nepali, Tamil, Portuguese, Spanish and French, with more to follow.
LANGUAGE SOLUTIONS

David Graydon, founder and chief executive of Spaciable, says: “Effective communication is a high priority for developers and landlords, not least because of the safety implications.
“Our new Languages feature ensures residents can access crucial information in their native language, whether that’s safety guidelines or day-to-day updates.”
The move comes as demand for multi-language solutions grows. Census data suggests that by 2031, around 10% of the UK population may not speak English as their main language – underlining the challenge housing providers face in building inclusive communities.
BEYOND COMPLIANCE

Oscar Mardell, head of partnerships at Spaciable, adds that the feature goes beyond compliance and efficiency: “For tenants who may not speak fluent English, isolation can be compounded when they struggle to engage with their local community.
“Spaciable enables residents to translate updates into their own language, helping them connect with neighbours and events in their development.”
The new functionality is priced at £2.50 per plot, per month plus a £50 monthly development fee and a £2,000 set-up cost for new clients.
