Rightmove rolls out AI-powered property search

Rightmove has launched a beta version of conversational, AI-powered property search, marking the next phase of its push to build an AI-driven property marketplace.

Developed in collaboration with Google Cloud and powered by Google’s Gemini models, the new feature allows users to describe what they are looking for in their own words via the search bar on Rightmove’s homepage.
Initially available to a limited portion of users, the tool enables more personalised queries alongside traditional filters such as location, price and bedrooms.

Buyers can request properties with features such as solar panels, proximity to green space or within a set commute time to a specific city. Results are generated from live listings and Rightmove’s data assets, delivered via an AI chat window that sits alongside the platform’s core search functionality.

AI KEYWORDS

The launch builds on AI tools introduced last year, including ‘AI Keywords’ on the mobile app and ‘Style with AI’, which allows users to visualise different interior layouts and styles.

Tarah Lourens, Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Rightmove, says: “We’re constantly innovating to evolve the Rightmove home-moving experience, increasingly using AI to enhance the property search experience by leveraging our leading data, and personalisation capabilities alongside Google’s latest technology offering.

“This latest launch caters to the growing interest in description-based search and will complement our existing range of tools. We believe this will genuinely add value for people moving home and for our partners.”

Maureen Costello, Vice President, UKI and SSA at Google Cloud, adds: “Rightmove’s new AI property search experience is a prime example of how technology can simplify life’s big decisions.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Rightmove as they build with Gemini to create an experience that truly understands user intent. With this innovation, complex searches, such as finding a cottage with a sea view within a 30-minute commute, become faster, easier, and more engaging.”

Rightmove says the feature will continue to evolve based on user behaviour and feedback as it expands its AI capabilities.
