Rightmove hosts AML webinar as fines jump 177%

Rightmove is hosting a new anti-money laundering (AML) webinar aimed at helping agents navigate tightening compliance requirements and rising enforcement action.

The session comes as HMRC data shows fines issued to estate and letting agents for AML failures have increased by 177%, with 170 firms fined a combined £835,000.
It is estimated that around £10bn is laundered through the UK property sector each year, placing continued scrutiny on agency compliance processes.

The webinar will feature leading financial crime lawyer Laura Asioli and John Reynolds, Co-Founder and COO of Coadjute (main picture, left-to-right).

COMPLIANCE CHECKLIST

The pair will provide a practical AML compliance checklist and address key areas including identifying high-risk transactions, evidential and record-keeping requirements for enforcement and challenging real-world scenarios through an extended live Q&A.

The event forms part of Rightmove’s Hub, which offers training modules, webinars and data insights to its 60,000 registered users as part of their membership.

Jason Charles, Head of Events and Education at Rightmove, says: “It’s more important than ever that agents can access expert help to make sure their teams stay on the right side of the anti-money laundering rules.

“This is an essential event for anyone completing AML checks– and we’ll have an extended Q&A to address every question we get, including those sent in in advance.”

AML FINANCIAL CRIME TRAINING COURSE

He adds: “We’ve also worked alongside David Smith, Partner at Spector Constant and Williams, to create an Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime training course, covering both AML regulation, the anti-bribery and proceeds of crime acts.

“This course is exclusive to Rightmove members at no extra cost to their membership.”

Agents can sign up now at the Rightmove Hub.
