Propertymark launches Renters’ Rights Toolkit

With the Renters’ Rights Bill having passed through Parliament and Royal Assent expected shortly, Propertymark has launched a new Renters’ Rights Toolkit to help letting agents and property professionals prepare for the most far-reaching reforms to the private rented sector in a generation.

The forthcoming Renters’ Rights Act will overhaul the framework for renting in England, abolishing Section 21 ‘no-fault’ evictions, replacing fixed-term contracts with rolling tenancies, and introducing tougher requirements on property standards and rent increases.
To support members through these changes, Propertymark’s Renters’ Rights Toolkit provides a comprehensive suite of resources designed to translate legislative complexity into clear, practical guidance.

The toolkit includes four expert guides covering the key implications for agents, including specialist advice on student lets, ten essential updates for landlords, and a concise reference guide for tenants. It also features fact sheets and FAQs that break down the new rules into actionable steps for day-to-day lettings management.

IN-DEPTH TRAINING COURSE

Propertymark has also launched an in-depth training course, Renters’ Rights Bill: What You Need to Know, offering agents the opportunity to learn directly from leading industry experts.

The course explores the main areas where the legislation will affect landlords and agents, providing practical insights and compliance strategies.

Recognising the importance of clear communication, the toolkit also includes a ‘Fear versus Fact’ social media pack – a set of visual resources designed to help agents counter misinformation, reassure landlords, and reinforce the benefits of working with qualified professionals.

COUNTDOWN IS BEGINNING

Nathan Emerson (main picture, inset), Chief Executive of Propertymark, says: “With the Renters’ Rights Bill now through Parliament, the countdown to Royal Assent has truly begun.

“This is the biggest overhaul of private renting we’ve seen in decades, and Propertymark’s focus is on ensuring that our members are equipped, confident, and ready.

“The Renters’ Rights Toolkit provides everything agents need to prepare their landlords and tenants, manage expectations, and stay compliant in this new era for the private rented sector.”

The toolkit is available exclusively to Propertymark members, who will also benefit from discounted access to related training courses.

The initiative forms part of the organisation’s wider commitment to supporting professionalism, raising standards, and ensuring that the industry is fully prepared for the new legislative landscape.
