Propertymark hosted its second webinar on the Renters’ Rights Bill earlier today as part of its ongoing support package for members and the wider industry.
Led by experts Timothy Douglas, Head of Policy and Campaigns, Valerie Bannister, ARLA Propertymark Regional Executive and Jan Hytch, Head of Member Services, the group looked at topics including the talking points of the Second Reading debate on 9 October; the unintended consequences of the legislation; the issue of undersupply; future tips for agents when implementing the change in grounds and changes to renting with pets and the overall timeframes of the Bill.
UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES

Nathan Emerson, Chief Executive of Propertymark, says: “As the Bill continues to make its way through Parliament, we know that agents rightly have added questions and concerns regarding its implementation on the ground.
“Our conversations with government officials are persistent and we continue to inform them of the unintended consequences and make the case for evidence-based policies that support a flexible and fair private rented sector for all.
“We will continue to support property agents to adapt through this transition by creating refreshed information and resources as the Bill makes its way through the parliamentary process and the details become clearer.”
