The property industry and wider community have raised more than £22,000 for breast cancer charities after uniting for a one-day charity ice hockey event in Nottingham.
Bex’s Battle, hosted at the Motorpoint Arena, drew a crowd of 2,500 – surpassing attendance figures for several Elite League fixtures – as supporters gathered to back CoppaFeel and Breast Cancer Now.
The event was inspired by Bex Combellack (mina picture, middle), who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and is currently undergoing treatment.
Since her diagnosis, Bex and her husband Richard Combellack, chief commercial officer at proptech supplier Nurtur, have focused on raising awareness of early detection while fundraising for frontline services.
PHENOMENAL SUPPORT
On the ice, a CoppaFeel team faced a Breast Cancer Now side in a symbolic show of solidarity, with former Nottingham Panthers and British National Team players David Clarke and Marc Levers lining up alongside former Sheffield Steeler Ben Bliss.
Off the rink, supporters took part in a 50/50 draw, raffles and fundraising activities, helping push the total beyond £22,000, with donations still rising.

Richard Combellack says: “Thank you to everyone who supported Bex’s Battle and helped us raise over £22,000 for breast cancer charities, and the total is still rising. The turnout was phenomenal, with 2,500 people coming together on the day, more than several Elite League games.
“The property industry once again showed what it’s capable of, with Nurtur and Agents Giving supporting the event through sponsorship of ticket printing and players’ jerseys. Most importantly, we’re using this momentum to spread a vital message: get checked. Early detection can save lives.”
EDUCATION AND AWARENESS
Funds raised will support education, awareness and essential breast cancer services delivered by the two charities, with the organisers clear that the message goes beyond fundraising: early diagnosis saves lives.
Fundraising for Bex’s Battle is still ongoing, with a silent auction open until next Sunday, offering further opportunities to support breast cancer awareness and vital services
