Michael Day, one of the best-known figures in the UK property sector, is bringing some much-needed sparkle to the festive season with the release of his very own Christmas single, created to raise funds for Diabetes UK and The Propertymark Trust.
The original track – ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’ – was written by Day and recorded at Long Dog Studios, with production by Piers Nolan.
And if Day has his way, it won’t just be another festive tune competing for attention. When asked about the title, he simply teased: “I guarantee it will be on everyone’s lips over the weeks ahead!”
The single is available now on Bandcamp, with listeners encouraged to donate £2 or more to support two charities close to Day’s heart.
FESTIVE FUNDRAISER
Day (main picture), a familiar face across the industry and an accomplished musician in his own right, says: “Many people know that I enjoy writing and performing and I have a number of my original songs recorded and available across the twenty three streaming channels including Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Deezer, TikTok, Instagram, You Tube and others.
“This Christmas song has a message of remembering those that may need help and sharing some joy and kindness at this important time of year.”
Day adds that the real goal isn’t chart domination – it’s impact.
He says: “I hope that people will enjoy the song in its own right but, more importantly, that they will make a donation to download – the minimum is £2 but there is no maximum! – and that they will also share and encourage family, friends and work colleagues to do likewise.”
PERSONAL CONNECTION
Every penny raised (after Bandcamp fees) will be shared equally between Diabetes UK and The Propertymark Trust.
For Day, the connection is deeply personal: “Both charities are close to my heart – I have been a type one diabetic for over 35 years and have raised around £7500 for Diabetes UK in the last three years. I am also a Director and Trustee at The Propertymark Trust which supports members of Propertymark, their families and employees with hardship grants and educational grants and bursaries.”
