The Project 28 Charter has opened membership to firms across the property transaction chain as it looks to build momentum behind efforts to speed up completions and reduce fall-throughs.
The initiative, which brings together estate agents, conveyancers, lenders, brokers and data providers, is aiming to tackle long-standing delays in the home moving process through greater collaboration and earlier sharing of information.
Backed by industry data showing transactions currently take an average of 112 days from sale agreed to exchange, the Charter’s goal is to cut that timeline to just 28 days through a series of practical commitments.
These include earlier instruction, upfront provision of property information and better coordination between parties, with a focus on creating a more transparent, digital-first process.
NEXT PHASE
Organisations already aligned with the Charter represent significant market scale, supporting over £600bn of mortgage assets, more than half of UK property listings and over one million searches and reports each year.
The move to open membership marks the next phase of the initiative, following growing industry engagement and recognition at the 2026 PRCA Public Affairs Awards.
DIGITAL-FIRST APPROACH
Simon Brown (main picture, inset), Chief Executive of Landmark Information Group, says: “The Project 28 Charter represents a collective commitment to rethinking the property transactions process.
“By opening membership, we’re inviting the wider industry to be part of a more collaborative, digital-first approach – one that reduces friction, increases certainty and ultimately transforms the experience of moving home.”
