Octopus launches Scotland’s first ‘Zero Bills’ homes

Octopus Energy has brought its Zero Bills tariff to Scotland for the first time, unveiling a new housing development where residents will not pay household energy bills for at least a decade.

All 57 homes at the Tranent Grove development in North Dundee, built by Discovery Homes, will be eligible for Octopus Energy’s Zero Bills tariff as an optional upgrade for buyers. It marks the first Zero Bills site north of the border.
Launched in 2022, Zero Bills is designed for homes fitted with low-carbon technology including heat pumps, solar panels and battery storage. Octopus guarantees that qualifying households will pay no home energy bills for at least five to ten years.

The Scottish launch follows the recent expansion of Zero Bills into France, the fourth country to join the scheme after the UK, Germany and New Zealand.

RENEWABLE POWERHOUSE

To date, Octopus Energy has approved more than 5,000 homes for Zero Bills eligibility through partnerships with major developers, spanning private sale, shared ownership and rental properties. The company has set a target of delivering 100,000 Zero Bills homes by 2030.
