A street in north London has once again been named the most expensive address in Great Britain with average asking prices topping £12.5m.
New research from the property portal Rightmove shows Winnington Road in Barnet retains the top spot in its latest Most Expensive Streets report, with homes carrying an average asking price of £12,538,095.
The analysis is based on properties listed for sale on Rightmove in January, focusing on streets where at least five homes were available during the month.
Chester Square in Westminster ranks second with an average asking price of £11,546,428, while The Bishops Avenue in Barnet – often referred to as “Billionaires’ Row” – comes third at £8,930,650.
LONDON CALLING
London continues to dominate the upper end of the property market, accounting for 19 of the top 20 most expensive streets in Britain. The only location outside the capital to make the list is East Road in Elmbridge, Surrey, where the average asking price stands at £8,795,714.
Across the wider UK, the most expensive streets in Scotland and Wales are considerably lower priced. Drumsheugh Gardens in Edinburgh tops the Scottish ranking with an average asking price of £560,000, while Hollybush Road in Cardiff is the most expensive in Wales at £1,237,500.
ULTRA-PRIME PROPERTY
Colleen Babcock, property expert at Rightmove, says: “Britain’s most expensive streets always capture the nation’s attention and this year we see the return of Winnington Road in North London, as Britain’s most expensive street based on asking prices.
“In fact, this year’s top 20 is taken up almost entirely by London addresses, showing the city still reigns as supreme when it comes to ultra-prime property.
“For buyers looking for prestigious roads outside of the hustle and bustle of London, Elmbridge in Surrey is flying the flag for the rest of the country as the only area outside the capital to make the top 20 list.”
