A redesigned version of the Homes for Londoners portal has been launched, giving Londoners improved access to affordable homeownership and rental options across the capital as pressures on the housing market continue to intensify.
The enhanced platform is the Mayor of London’s official property portal and is being delivered by Share to Buy, the UK’s largest portal for affordable homeownership.
It brings together homes available through a range of housing schemes, including Shared Ownership, London Living Rent, Discount Market Sale and Older Persons Shared Ownership.
The portal is designed as a single access point for Londoners navigating an increasingly complex and constrained housing market.
PROPERTY LISTINGS
New features include in-built affordability calculators on every listing, alongside tools that allow users to search, compare and enquire about homes across all London boroughs.
Properties listed range from studio flats in central London to larger family homes in outer zones, reflecting the breadth of affordable housing options currently available.
Homes are provided by housing associations, private developers and local authorities, bringing together much of the capital’s affordable supply in one place.
HOUSING CRISIS
Nick Lieb (main picture, inset), Chief Operations officer at Share to Buy, says: “The capital is currently facing a housing crisis – rents are high, stock across the board is low, and buying is out of reach for many.
“That’s why the new Homes for Londoners portal is so important. By combining the scale and functionality of Share to Buy with the reach and trust of Homes for Londoners, we can provide a more streamlined, user-friendly experience that genuinely helps more people take a step towards homeownership.”
CONNECTING LONDONERS

Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, adds: “Tackling our urgent housing crisis is my top priority.
“The Mayor and I are doing everything we can to deliver more homes of all tenures, building on the progress which has already been made, with more new council homes started in London than at any time since the 1970s and, prior to the pandemic, more new homes completed than any time since the 1930s.
“The Mayor’s enhanced property portal will help to connect Londoners to affordable homes and provide much-needed guidance on the housing schemes, as well as useful tools such as in-built affordability calculators on every listing.
“At a time when London’s housing market is facing significant challenges, it’s more important than ever that Londoners have clear, reliable information on the options available to them, as we build a better and fairer London for everyone.”
