Leaders Romans Group (LRG) has announced the acquisition of the Chancellors Estate Agency Group, in what the company describes as its largest acquisition to date.
The deal sees LRG take over a respected independent agency with a history dating back to 1807 and a strong presence across West London, Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Mid Wales.
Chancellors operates from over 50 locations and employs more than 450 staff, offering services in residential sales, lettings, new homes, commercial property, and land and development.
Founded by James Cain, Chancellors has built a reputation for expert local knowledge and service excellence, supporting a diverse client base ranging from first-time buyers to experienced landlords.
NAMES TO STAY
The business will continue to operate under its own name, reflecting its longstanding brand recognition and influence in the communities it serves.
The acquisition significantly extends LRG’s reach into areas where it previously had no presence, including Mid Wales, Herefordshire, South Oxfordshire, and the Cotswolds. All existing branches will retain their branding.
PERFECT FIT

Matthew Light, Group Mergers and Acquisitions Director at LRG, says: “The acquisition of Chancellors, with its 50+ branches, is our largest to date and a prime example of the type of business we are looking to acquire.
“We focus on acquiring prolific regional agencies with strong local reputations, established multi-branch networks, and significant lettings portfolios. Chancellors perfectly fits this profile, strengthening our market share and expanding our geographic reach.”
SUCCESSFIL PARTNERSHIP
Michael Cook (main picture), Chief Executive Officer at LRG, adds: “Chancellors joining the LRG team is a fantastic way to start 2025 and a significant step in our five-year growth strategy.
“Chancellors is an established business, with a significant property management portfolio and a brand with great heritage. Their expertise perfectly complements our existing offerings, and we are particularly excited to establish a presence in new markets like Mid Wales, Herefordshire, South Oxfordshire, and the Cotswolds, expanding our reach and providing our services to a broader client base.
“We’re delighted to welcome the whole Chancellors team to the LRG family and look forward to a successful partnership.”

As part of the transition, Robert Scott-Lee, Managing Director at Chancellors, will remain in the business as a consultant to ensure continuity and support a smooth integration.
The acquisition reflects LRG’s ongoing expansion strategy as it continues to consolidate its position as a leading player in the UK property market.
