Loft boarding may not sound glamorous, but it’s about to get serious protection. A new government-backed scheme – the first of its kind – has been launched to safeguard standards in the growing raised loft boarding industry.
The TrustMark Loft Boarding Installer Scheme, created by LoftZone, the UK’s leading raised loft board provider, gives homeowners a simple benchmark for safe, quality installations while offering tradespeople a clear framework for credibility and recognition.
Backed by TrustMark, the official government quality mark for trades, the scheme will ensure installers use only BBA-approved raised loft boarding systems, protecting against botched jobs that can damage insulation, reduce energy efficiency, or even create safety hazards.
Every installation will also carry a five-year guarantee.
PIVOTAL MOMENT

Dave Raval, LoftZone Chief Executive and insulation expert, says: “This is a pivotal moment for the loft boarding industry. For the first time, providers have a national standard that recognises only the highest workmanship.
“Installers who get accredited early will benefit not only from stronger customer trust but also from growth opportunities under government programmes like the Warm Homes Plan.”
For trades, the perks go beyond credibility: the right to display the TrustMark badge, automatic listing on national directories, independent dispute resolution, and a likely edge in winning government-backed insulation contracts.
Installers will also face regular audits and must follow a strict code of conduct to stay accredited.
For homeowners, the scheme offers reassurance that they’re dealing with trusted professionals, with access to trading standards and free consumer advice if needed.
In a sector often overlooked but essential to energy efficiency, this new scheme marks the arrival of loft boarding as a trade with clear rules, visible quality markers, and government recognition.
