Leaky taps top the list of Liverpool’s most common home repair issues

Liverpool residents are searching for solutions to home repair problems, with leaky taps emerging as the city’s most prevalent issue, according to new research by Leaders Letting Agents.

The study, which analysed average monthly Google searches for common home repair terms, revealed that “how to fix leaky taps” garnered an average of 102.5 monthly searches in Liverpool.
Nationally, leaky taps also topped the list, with 3,788.33 searches on average each month.

Leaky taps are a widespread annoyance, with their continuous drips not only wasting water but also causing potential damage if left unresolved. From kitchen sinks to bathroom faucets, the issue affects various parts of the home.

HOLES IN THE WALL

Ranking second, “holes in the wall” saw 31.67 monthly searches. These can range from minor nail holes to more severe damage caused by water or pests, requiring timely repairs to prevent further complications.

With 22.5 average monthly searches, creaky floorboards are the third most common issue. Often a hallmark of older properties, these can be a source of frustration, though they rarely indicate serious structural concerns.

CRACKS IN WALLS

Coming in fourth with 21.67 monthly searches, cracks in walls are a frequent issue. While often cosmetic, some cracks may signal deeper structural problems that require professional attention.

Peeling paint rounds out the top five, with 20.83 searches each month. This issue not only diminishes the appearance of a home but can also expose surfaces to moisture and damage.

HEALTH IMPACTS

A spokesperson for Leaders Letting Agents says: “The health impacts on residents living with issues in their homes can be very severe, especially for those more vulnerable. Debilitating injuries and significant damage could often be prevented with a simple fix.

“Addressing these problems promptly is essential to maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment.”
