British entrepreneur and philanthropist John Caudwell hosted a festive drinks reception at his Grade II listed Mayfair House, bringing together figures from politics, the charity sector and the media.
The event took place inside the 45,000 sq ft mansion, one of the largest private homes in central London, which Caudwell has spent years restoring.
Around 100 guests attended, including senior editors and correspondents from major UK and international outlets such as Sky News, the BBC, LBC, Times Radio, the Financial Times, The National, Bloomberg, The Telegraph and The Sunday Times.
Representatives from specialist titles including Mansion Global, TATLER, Country & Townhouse, Elite Traveller, PrimeResi, Showhouse Magazine and The Standard were also present.
ULTRA-PRIME
The reception, hosted by Caudwell and his partner Modesta Vžesniauskaitė, began in the mansion’s ballroom before moving to its private nightclub on the lower ground floor – a space rarely seen by the public.

Caudwell’s business interests span ultra-prime property development, marine technology and a number of philanthropic ventures.

His real estate company, Caudwell, is behind some of the most high-value residential schemes in Europe. Current projects include 1 Mayfair, a £2 billion development with services provided by the Dorchester Collection, and Le Provençal in Cap d’Antibes, a £300m conversion of the former Hôtel Provençal into serviced residences.

The company’s portfolio also includes Domaine de La Belle Etoile on the French Riviera and Fonteyn House in Knightsbridge, the former home of Dame Margot Fonteyn.
THE GIVING PLEDGE
Alongside business activities, Caudwell remains one of the country’s most active private philanthropists. He founded Caudwell Children in 2000, supporting disabled and autistic children, and Caudwell Youth, which provides one-to-one mentoring to young people at risk.

He personally covers the operating costs of both organisations and is a signatory of The Giving Pledge, committing at least 70% of his wealth to charitable causes.
Caudwell has also commissioned several independent research reports examining how science and technology can drive UK economic growth. His latest publication, Caudwell Strong Britain: Fixing the Foundations, focuses on improving the UK’s competitiveness in attracting foreign direct investment.
CHAMPIONING ECONOMIC GROWTH

Caudwell says: “I was pleased to use the reception at Mayfair House to bring together my network of political, charity and media contacts, friends and associates to thank them for the support they give my various initiatives throughout the year.
“As I have committed to donating 70% of my wealth to charity, my business activities help to provide a legacy for my charity work in the future.
“I believe strongly in Britain and the future of this country and will continue to do everything I can to help champion the economic growth, wellbeing and resilience of this great country.”
