Estate agency Hunters is backing local car firm boss Martin Dobson (main picture) as he takes on an extraordinary endurance challenge in May attempting to run 200 miles in support of The Nikki Waterhouse Trust.
The Trust was set up in February 2015 in memory of Nicole “Nikki” Waterhouse, who tragically passed away at the age of 32 on 20 October 2013.
Nikki worked at Hunters from August 1999 until August 2008, before taking a sabbatical to pursue her love of travel and adventure in Thailand and Australia. She returned to York in May 2009, rejoining the Sales team at Hunters Head Office.
Known for her warmth, generosity and love of life, Nikki was a much-loved daughter, sister and friend whose loss was deeply felt by everyone who knew her.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Nikki had a particular love for children, making The Trust’s mission especially meaningful. Today, The Nikki Waterhouse Trust supports children and their families during times of need, helping to make a tangible difference to their lives.
The Trust was formed by Nikki’s father John Waterhouse, alongside fellow Hunters directors Kevin Hollinrake, Glynis Frew, Ed Jones and Martin Robinson, who wanted to ensure something positive came from such a tragic loss.

Now the boss of York-based Dobson Motors will begin the Hardmoors 200 mile ultra marathon at 8am on Friday 22 May 2026 in Hull, with the goal of reaching the finish line in Helmsley by 8pm on Sunday 24 May, completing the gruelling course within just 60 hours.
The challenge will push Dobson to his physical and mental limits as he runs day and night across some of Yorkshire’s most demanding trails.
The route incorporates both the stunning yet challenging Yorkshire Wolds Way and the dramatic climbs of the Cleveland Way, taking in rugged coastal paths, rolling countryside and countless miles of unforgiving terrain.
HUNTERS SUPPORT
Throughout the weekend, Hunters offices along the route will be supporting Dobson, providing much-needed refreshments, encouragement and motivation as he tackles the monumental distance.
Dobson says: “This year, I’m preparing to take on my toughest challenge yet, running the Hardmoors 200 mile ultra marathon in one long weekend to raise money for The Nikki Waterhouse Trust.
“At 8am on Friday 22 May, I will set off from Hull with one goal: to reach the finish line in Helmsley by 8pm on Sunday evening. In just 60 hours, I’ll be running through day and night across some of Yorkshire’s most demanding trails.
“This isn’t just about miles. It’s about making a difference. Every step taken is in support of The Nikki Waterhouse Trust and the people it helps. When the miles feel endless and exhaustion sets in, it’s the cause that will keep me moving forward.”
REMARKABLE DETERMINATION

Rob Smith, Group Managing Director at Hunters, adds: “Martin’s challenge is nothing short of remarkable. Running 200 miles in one weekend requires incredible determination, resilience and commitment.
“The Nikki Waterhouse Trust means a great deal to everyone at Hunters, and we’re immensely proud of Martin for taking on such a demanding challenge to support a cause that is so close to our hearts. Colleagues across our offices will be cheering him on every step of the way.”
With 200 miles, three days and one powerful reason, Dobson hopes his challenge will raise vital funds and awareness for The Nikki Waterhouse Trust and the families it supports.
