The Guild of Property Professionals has unveiled a six-week training programme to prepare members for the sweeping changes under the Renters Rights Act, which comes into force on 1 May 2026.
The structured initiative begins on 12 February and will deliver weekly webinars backed by written guidance, checklists and practical tools via the Guild’s Members Hub.
Led by compliance officer Paul Offley, alongside senior account manager Tanya Pearson, the programme is designed to tackle the operational and commercial impact of the legislation head-on, giving agents clear steps to implement ahead of the deadline.
Each session will focus on what is changing, how it affects lettings businesses and what actions agents must take.
AGENDA SETTING

Topics include the end of fixed-term tenancies, gaining possession, possession grounds, rent increases, payments in advance and rules around rental bidding, discrimination and pets.
Every webinar will be supported by a topic-specific checklist and advance guidance, enabling members to implement changes in stages rather than face a last-minute compliance scramble.
Weekly drop-in sessions will also run throughout April to address outstanding questions before the law takes effect.
PREPERATION IS KEY
Paul Offley (main picture) says: “Preparation is absolutely critical with legislation of this scale. The Renters Rights Act represents a fundamental shift in how lettings businesses operate, and agents who leave preparation too late risk disruption to both their compliance and commercial performance.
“Our six-week programme is designed to remove uncertainty, prioritise what matters most, and give Members the confidence to make changes as they go, rather than all at once.
“The Guild’s role is to support Members through change, not just explain the law. This programme provides practical actions, real-life scenarios and ongoing support, ensuring our Members are not only compliant by 1 May 2026, but operationally strong and commercially protected.”
Rent protection will run as a consistent theme throughout the training, with the Guild positioning the programme as essential preparation for one of the biggest regulatory shifts in the lettings sector in years.
