Grade II Listed Manor House – restored inside and out

A superb Grade II Listed country house, with 14th and 18th Century origins has been beautifully restored with the property renovations were overseen by award-winning architect Simon Conder, while the grounds were restored by landscape architect and Chelsea winner Jinny Blom.

Trebrea Manor is set in mature grounds of around four acres, and has glorious sea and country views towards St Materiana’s Church.

There are exceptional entertaining spaces with two ground floor reception rooms and a first floor drawing room. A large contemporary kitchen/breakfast room, with sea views and access to the garden, has a fabulous range oven with electric barbecue and Teppanyaki oven.

Four exquisitely appointed bedrooms each have an en suite bathroom. Period features including large sash windows, high ceilings with intricate mouldings, detailed cornicing, and impressive original fireplaces blend beautifully with high spec finishes throughout.

GRAND GATED ENTRANCE

Approached via a grand gated entrance with a circular driveway, delightful landscaped gardens surround the property. Sheltered by established woodland, the gardens have been expertly restored to their original splendour and include a formal gated garden to the front, a terraced garden to the rear that rises to woodland and orchard, and a spring-fed stream. Across the lane, directly in front of the property, a five-bar gate provides access to an enclosed paddock, which protects the view and provides excellent space.

GRASS TENNIS

The property also encompasses a flat area of lawn that would be suitable for a grass tennis court or croquet lawn, if desired. Lower down, with direct access from the kitchen and sitting room there is a sunny and sheltered lawn with a gravel patio that is ideal for outdoor dining.

Situated on either side of the manor house are the North and South Pavilions, both in need of restoration with potential to offer further accommodation. There are two 2-storey unconverted buildings also included within the grounds – a two bedroom annexe and a two bedroom studio – both have their own parking and garden, and provide scope for renovation.

TRENALE

Trebrea Manor is located in the village of Trenale, about one mile inland from the North Cornwall coast. Steeped in myth and legend, nearby Tintagel is most famous for its 12th Century castle ruins rumoured to be the historic residence of King Arthur and his round table.

Stroll along this fabled stretch of coastline and down to Merlin’s Cave or soak up the natural beauty of the headlands, where the cliffs teem with bird life and seals play in the waters.

The South West Coast Path passes through the village and winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside.

Josephine Ashby of John Bray Estates says: “It’s rare to find such a striking period property this close to the coast.

“Having been meticulously restored with contemporary interiors the future custodian of this stunning house can arrive with their suitcase and enjoy immediate decadence.

“The buyer that can’t resist a project can make their mark on the unrestored buildings and cottages to provide more flexible if required.”
