From prime TV to property: Dani Behr’s second act in estate agency

Former TV presenter Dani Behr has reinvented herself as a luxury estate agent in Los Angeles, turning her lifelong connection to property into a successful second career.

Best known in the UK for her high-profile roles on The Word and The Big Breakfast, Behr became a fixture on British screens throughout the 1990s.
After moving to the US and stepping back from television, she made a decisive career pivot into real estate – an industry she describes as both dynamic and deeply rewarding.

The Sun reports that speaking on a podcast in 2020, Behr explained that opportunities in American broadcasting were limited and often confined to niche roles. “There’s no equivalent to UK-style presenting,” she said. “You’re either delivering the news or hosting late-night shows – I didn’t fit the mould.”

PROPERTY ROOTS

With roots in property – her father worked in real estate and her mother in interior design – Behr chose to formalise her interest, studying for and passing the necessary exams to gain her real estate licence in California.

She now specialises in high-end residential sales and lettings, working with celebrity clients and affluent buyers in the competitive LA market.

Her media skills – communication, client rapport, and on-camera confidence – appear to have translated seamlessly into her role as an agent.

In addition to her day-to-day work, Behr also hosted a podcast, The Behr Essentials, which explored her experiences in the property world.
