CLASSIC LINEUP

Christine McVie (b1943 – d2022) was the keyboardist and singer in British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, and was part of the band’s classic lineup, alongside drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie (who Christine was married to between 1968 and 1976), singer Stevie Nicks and guitarist and singer Lindsey Buckingham. She was also in the band’s final lineup, along with Mike, John, and Stevie, guitarist Mike Campbell and rhythm guitarist and singer Neil Finn.
Residing mainly in Los Angeles during the 1970s and 1980s Christine was the prime member behind some of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hits. She wrote “Don’t Stop”, “Everywhere”, “Little Lies” and “Songbird” and many more.
In 1998 Fleetwood Mac received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and in the same year, after almost 30 years she left the band, to live in semi-retirement in a Grade II listed Manor House in Kent.
Christine made an appearance on stage with Fleetwood Mac at the O2 Arena in London in September 2013 and rejoined the band in 2014 for their World Tour. After rejoining the band, Christine began spending more time in London since she had missed the capital during her time in Kent. This led her purchasing the duplex penthouse on Eaton Place in Belgravia and sell her Kent Manor House.

In 2015 the penthouse was refurbished by a developer and Christine. This included light Oak parquet flooring in the main double reception room and the installation of a wonderful Shaker style kitchen, whose bespoke design she oversaw, with Oak worktops, timber paneled units and cupboards, warm yellow ceramic wall tiles, breakfast bar and integrated Gaggenau appliances including a sub-zero fridge/freezer.
When not touring, the Belgravia penthouse provided Christine with a comfortable home, and a quiet and private space where she could shop with anonymity.
Following her death in November 2022 Christine’s artwork and personal property from the Belgravia penthouse were auctioned by Julien’s Auctions in Nashville, with the proceeds benefiting MusiCares and other music-related charities.

Recently the penthouse interiors and dressing have been refreshed by designer Simon Buhl Davis in a rustic and elegant understated style.
The double reception room has a bright and airy ambience and provides two seating areas with three sash windows overlooking Eaton Place. Double doors bordered to either side by bespoke library joinery give access to the 10 seat dining room with sash windows looking onto Lyall Street. Beyond is the kitchen/breakfast room.

Off the inner hallway are a guest cloakroom and study with the staircase leading to the upper floor where one of the three bedrooms has been dressed as a family room. The principal bedroom suite has a vaulted ceiling, walk-in dressing area and a main bathroom with walk-in shower and a separate freestanding sculptural bath.
