International estate agency brand Fine & Country announced its partnership with currency specialist, Lumon, in summer 2023. Since then, the partnership has seen many developments, including the recent introduction of a monthly webinar series.
Coined the Worldwide Wanderlust Series and hosted by Nicky Stevenson (main picture), Managing Director of Fine & Country, the sessions are aimed at individuals considering relocating to sunnier climates in Europe. Over the course of four sessions, attendees have so far had the opportunity to explore the enticing prospects of moving to Portugal, Spain, France, and Cyprus.
The series kicked off in January, with a focus on Southern Cyprus, internationally regarded as the Jewel of the Mediterranean. Giorgos Tsoukkas, Fine & Country Cyprus, and Steve Eakins, Key Partner Director at Lumon, were among the experts shedding light on Cyprus’ coastal living, warm locals, and low cost of living.
FRANCE
February’s webinar transported attendees to France, where they were introduced to the country’s irresistible charm, rich culture, and diverse landscapes. Alice Watson Smith, Fine & Country and Jonathan Watson, French property currency expert from Lumon were among the panellists who guided participants through the intricacies of purchasing property in France.
SPAIN & PORTUGAL
March saw the spotlight shift to Spain, inviting prospective residents to enjoy its cultural vibrancy, culinary delights, and exceptional climate. Chris Hara from Fine & Country Spain and Kevin Monger from Mortgage Direct were among the esteemed panellists who shared insights and expertise. Concluding the series for now, April’s session was a deep dive into the charms of Portugal. Portugal’s allure as one of the top three happiest places for expats to live was expertly explored by a panel of industry specialists, including Charles Roberts from Fine & Country Portugal and Jonathan Watson from Lumon.
RELOCATION PLANS
Attendees of the webinar series were treated to comprehensive information and expert advice, empowering them to make informed decisions about their relocation plans. Additionally, data from a poll conducted during each session shed light on the preferences and timelines of prospective buyers.
When the audience, comprising of hundreds of prospective buyers, was asked whether they were looking for a permanent move, a holiday home, or an investment property, more than 40% voted for permanent home, with 30% saying holiday home and 20% looking for an investment property. Almost half of attendees were looking to make the move abroad from 2025 onwards with the other half seeking to move now, or before the end of the year with budgets ranging from 250,000 Euros, to over 1 million Euros.
