The family of Steve Blight, founder and managing director of BPC Group, has announced his passing at the age of 61.
A much-loved and highly respected figure within the UK property industry, Steve dedicated almost three decades to building one of the sector’s most recognised specialist brands.
Born in March 1964 and educated at Broxbourne School, Steve – known affectionately as “Blighty” to his many friends and colleagues – began his career in property with Adam Kennedy in Enfield before founding BPC Group in April 1996.
His vision was to create a business that would become a trusted partner to the housebuilding industry, providing expertise in land, new homes sales, recruitment and digital marketing.
HIGHLY REGARDED
Under his leadership, BPC Group grew into a highly regarded name within the sector, working with many of the UK’s leading housebuilders including Berkeley Homes, Weston Homes, Crest Nicholson, St James, Taylor Wimpey and Fairview New Homes.
Clients frequently described Steve and his team as an “extension of their own business”, a reflection of the integrity, loyalty and deep market knowledge that defined his approach.
In 2021, BPC Group celebrated its 25th anniversary – a milestone that filled Steve with immense pride, particularly as it coincided with his son Harry Blight joining the company as a Land Manager, continuing the family’s involvement in the firm’s next chapter.
VISIONARY ENTREPRENEUR
Beyond business, Steve was known for his energy, humour and generosity. A keen golfer and committed supporter of property industry charity and networking events, he was passionate about mentoring young professionals and helping them forge successful careers in the sector.
His family, colleagues and countless friends across the property industry remember him not only as a talented and visionary entrepreneur but as a man whose warmth, loyalty and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife Emma, son Harry, step-children Daisy, George and James and his grandchildren.
