Ealing tops list of UK anti-social behaviour hotspots

As Halloween approaches new analysis from over-50s property specialist Regency Living has revealed the areas of the UK most affected by anti-social behaviour (ASB) – with Ealing, Fylde, Westminster, West Lancashire and Chorley topping the list.

The research, based on national crime data, examined the proportion of all reported offences that relate to anti-social behaviour.
It found that the W13 postcode in Ealing, West London, recorded the highest concentration, with 37.4% of all crimes so far this year categorised as ASB.

The PR4 postcode in Fylde, Lancashire, followed with 36.3%, while SW1V in Westminster ranked third at 35.6%. Ormskirk’s L39 and Chorley’s PR7 completed the top five with 35.6% and 34%, respectively.

MORE HOTSPOT THAN HOT POT

Lancashire emerged as a particular hotspot, with South Ribble (PR5), Pendle (BB8) and Fylde (FY8) also ranking among the country’s worst areas for ASB – each recording around a third of all crimes in the category.

Regency Living’s analysis also found that anti-social offences typically peak in summer, accounting for up to 18% of total crimes, before falling in winter – though a distinct spike occurs every October, when ASB incidents rise to around 16% of all reported offences.

The company says the trend is prompting growing numbers of over-50s to prioritise security and community when choosing where to live.

INTIMIDATING TIME

Tim Simmons, Sales Director at Regency Living, says: “Halloween is a lot of fun for many, but for older homeowners or those living alone, it can be intimidating when celebrations spill into public disruption or damage.

“We’re seeing more people choosing park home communities for retirement – secure, close-knit environments where anti-social behaviour is virtually unheard of and residents enjoy genuine peace of mind.”
